Scholarship Awards
The Prince William County-Greater Manassas Chamber of Commerce is proud to announce its Scholarship Program. This year seniors from Prince William County, Manassas and Manassas Park public and private accredited secondary schools will have an opportunity to compete for four scholarships from the Prince William County-Greater Manassas Chamber of Commerce. Twelve one thousand-dollar scholarships awarded to successful candidates, can be used for educational programs of study leading to a degree or professional certificate during academic year 2010-2011. All seniors are encouraged to apply.
The mission of the Education Committee of the Prince William County-Greater Manassas Chamber of Commerce is to create partnerships between the business and education communities by acting as a sounding board, promoting communications, and coordinating resources and efforts between the two.
The 2010 categories are Business, Career and Technical Education, Education, Leadership and Science/Technology.
Business Scholarship
Scholarship Award: Two (2) $1,000.00 scholarships
Business Scholarships seek to support students that intend to pursue a career in business by enrolling in an accredited community college or four-year college or university. Any student can win, at most, one Prince William County – Greater Manassas Chamber of Commerce scholarship.
Eligibility Requirements:
- Applicant must be enrolled in an accredited public or private high school in Prince William County, Manassas or Manassas Park.
- Applicant must demonstrate academic achievement by having a G.P.A. of at least 2.5.
- Applicant must acknowledge planned enrollment in an accredited community college or four-year college or university.
- Applicant must complete the application and four essay questions.
- Applicant must provide a teacher letter of recommendation. The recommendation should explain any unusual circumstances or obstacles the student has had to overcome.
- Application must be typed
Application Process:
- Each school is responsible for evaluating the submissions, nominating one student for the Business Scholarship and forwarding the nominee’s application to the Prince William County–Greater Manassas Chamber of Commerce, 8963 Center Street, Manassas, Virginia. PLEASE NOTE: Due to weather-related school closures, the deadline has been extended to 12 noon on Monday, March 1 , 2010. Applications will also be accepted by fax, at 703-368-4733. Applications must be typed. No attachments will be accepted other than the teacher recommendation. Applications must be submitted by the guidance office. Applications submitted by students will not be considered.

Formal notification of the winners will be made to both the student and school by Friday, March 26th, followed up with a press release. Formal presentation of each of the scholarships will be made in coordination with the recipients and their respective school’s annual recognition event to include their peers and family.

Career and Technical Education Scholarship
Scholarship Award: One (1) $1,000.00 scholarships
Career and Technical Education Scholarships seek to support students that intend to pursue a technical career that requires a two-year associate degree or technical certification. Any student can win, at most, one Prince William County – Greater Manassas Chamber of Commerce scholarship.
Eligibility Requirements:
- Applicant must be enrolled in an accredited public or private high school in Prince William County, Manassas or Manassas Park
- Applicant must demonstrate academic achievement by having a G.P.A. of at least 2.0
- Applicant must acknowledge planned enrollment in an educational institution program of study leading to a two-year associate degree or a technical certification
- Applicant must complete the application and four essay questions
- Applicant must provide a teacher or professional letter of recommendation. The recommendation should explain any unusual circumstances or obstacles the student has had to overcome
- Application must be typed

Leadership Scholarship
Scholarship Award: Three (3) $1,000.00 scholarships
Leadership Scholarships seek to support students that demonstrate characteristics and qualities associated with leadership. Any student can win, at most, one Prince William County – Greater Manassas Chamber of Commerce scholarship.
Eligibility Requirements:
- Applicant must be enrolled in an accredited public or private high school in Prince William County, Manassas or Manassas Park
- Applicant must demonstrate academic achievement by having a G.P.A. of at least 2.5
- Applicant must acknowledge planned enrollment in an educational institution program of study leading to at least a two-year degree, a four-year degree or a technical certification
- Applicant must complete the application and four essay questions
- Applicant must provide a teacher letter of recommendation. The recommendation should explain any unusual circumstances or obstacles the student has had to overcome. The teacher recommendation should also elaborate on the leadership characteristics of the applicant
- Application must be typed

Science and Technology Scholarship
Scholarship Award: Three (3) $1,000.00 scholarships
Science and Technology scholarships seek to support students that are pursuing a four-year college degree in areas such as, but not limited to, math, science and engineering. Any student can win, at most, one Prince William County – Greater Manassas Chamber of Commerce Scholarship.
Eligibility Requirements:
- Applicant must be enrolled in an accredited public or private high school in Prince William County, Manassas or Manassas Park
- Applicant must demonstrate academic achievement by having a G.P.A. of at least 3.5
- Applicant must acknowledge planned enrollment in a four-year educational institution
- Applicant must complete the application and four essay questions
- Applicant must provide a teacher letter of recommendation
- Guidance Counselor to provide student’s transcript of grades
- Application must be typed
Application Process:
- Each school is responsible for evaluating the submissions, nominating one student for the Science/Technology Scholarship and forwarding the nominee’s application to the Prince William County – Greater Manassas Chamber of Commerce, 8963 Center Street, Manassas, Virginia. PLEASE NOTE: Due to weather-related school closures, the deadline has been extended to 12 noon on Monday, March 1 , 2010. Applications will also be accepted by fax, at 703-368-4733.
