The
Chamber Awards Two 2004 Shelley Krasnow Community Service Awards
Prince William Interfaith Volunteer Caregivers and
Youth for Tomorrow are the 2004 recipients of the
15th Annual Shelley Krasnow Community Service Award. The awards were
handed out at the Prince William County-Greater Manassas Chamber of
Commerce’s Community Showcase Luncheon on Tuesday, February
24th, at the Best Western Battlefield Inn. The Shelley Krasnow Award
is an award for outstanding service to our community by a deserving
nonprofit. A one thousand dollar check was presented to each recipient
along with a plaque commemorating their service to the community.
Their name will be added to the Shelley Krasnow Community Service
Award plaque that is permanently displayed at the Chamber office.
The award was accepted on behalf of Prince William Interfaith Volunteer
Caregivers by its Executive Director, J. Robert Moon. The organization
was honored for improving the lives of thousands of community residents
through programs of prevention, intervention and direct services and
by linking businesses, faith communities, volunteers and agencies.
The Caregivers have also been active in the Chamber. Last fall, they
participated in the toy collection at the Chamber’s Cuisine
de Commerce where toys were collected and distributed to qualified
families the week of Christmas.
Youth for Tomorrow, represented by Terry Tinsley and Sally Hotchkiss,
was honored for taking society’s “throw-away” kids
and returning them to their communities and schools as responsible,
contributing members of society.
