Road Bond Projects Completed

The new Liberia Avenue extended is now open. This new section of road connects Prince William Parkway with Route 234 (Dumfries Road). The road will be named the Prince William Parkway. The $8 million road was built as part of the 1994 bond referendum.

Manassas Museum Associates June Forum Addresses Virginia's 19th Century Railroads

Mark your calendar for Thursday, June 1 at 7:30 p.m. for the second Associates Forum on 2000 in the Council Chambers at Manassas City Hall. The role of railroads during the Civil War and their social history impact on the region will be discussed. Seating is limited. Technology Career Roundtable

The Computer Training Depot and Key Technologies & Security, Inc. (KTSI) present an opportunity to learn about the many careers in the technology field. Attendees will be provided with information to help them make an informed career decision such as: what is involved; the prerequisites; how much they can expect to pay for training; where you can receive the training; the type of jobs you could qualify for when the training is completed and the risks involved. The Roundtable will be held on Saturday, June 10 from 10 AM to 4 PM at the Computer Training Depot, 9201 Church Street (2nd Floor of the F&M Bank Building), Manassas, VA 20110. Haymarket Museum Auction

July 8, 11:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m., Frank "E." Bolton, Auctioneer. The town has received a $60,000 matching grant through the Virginia Department of Historic Resources for the renovation of the town hall to a museum. The auction is a fundraiser for the town's portion of the matching funds. The auction will be held at the "town center" (old Gossom's Hardware) building, the new town offices. Grant Workshop

The Arts Council Liason will give a workshop covering all aspects of the application process to the Council for General Operating, Project and New & Emerging Organization Grants for 2000-2001. 6th Annual Manassas Railway Festival

Share in America's love affair with the railroad at the Sixth Annual Manassas Railway Festival presented by The Washington Post, on Saturday, June 3, from 10 AM until 4 PM in historic Old Town Manassas. CASA "Come As You Were" Retro Party

Pull out your poodle skirts, bell bottoms, and platforms and "Come As You Were" to CASA's 1st Annual Retro Party. The evening will include live entertainment, food, beverages, prize drawings, raffles and dancing. "Come As You Were" will be hosted on Saturday, June 3rd from 7 PM - midnight. Proceeds from the Retro Party will go to support CASA and their efforts to end child abuse and neglect in the Prince William area. Manassas Dance Company Upcoming Performance

The Manassas Dance Company will perform the classic ballet "Coppelia" on Sunday, June 10 at 5:00 p.m. The performance will be held at Metz Junior High School, 9700 Fairview Avenue in Manassas. American Red Cross announces blood drives

Without a consistent blood supply, hospitals are forced to delay procedures to ensure that blood is available in case of emergencies. Upcoming blood drives include Monday, June 5th, St. Thomas United Methodist, 2-8 p.m. and Saturday, June 17th, American Legion Post 364, 8 a.m. -2 p.m. Please call 1-800-GIVE-LIFE to make an appointment.
