Better your Health at this BBH two for one! Come to the next Business Before Hours on Tuesday, August 8th from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. for a two for one opportunity to network and get to know Manassas businesses!
Whitten Laser Eye Surgery and Universal Health Care, P.C., will host the BBH jointly. During breakfast Randy Frostick, Past President of the Chamber, will discuss his recent experience of laser vision correction at Whitten Laser Eye Surgery, and "going from 20/400 vision to next day 20/20 vision."
After the breakfast presentation, a variety of door prizes will be awarded including generous certificates for laser vision correction and gift certificates for health consultations at Universal Health Care P.C. , which specializes in physical therapy, rehabilitation and chiropractic care. Universal Healthcare has recently added a weight-loss program to their services. Both hosts will offer free evaluations immediately following the networking event.

Share your expertise! The Brown Bag Speaker
Series Committee is currently accepting proposals from
those interested in speaking at a Brown Bag in the year
2001. Brown Bag Speakers are Chamber members who
provide information to help other Chamber members
improve their business. The seminars are held on the 3rd
Thursday of the month at the Chamber office from noon
until 1:00 p.m. If you are interested in submitting a

The Chamber is happy to announce that our fax
machine is working again. Thank you to those members
who tried to fax out a Technology Survey last week. The
Chamber Staff apologizes to our members for any

COMMUNITY HAPPENINGS IN JULY
FREE CONFERENCE AND EVENT ROOM
Judi Weiner-White, Len Derois, and Les and Jenny
Lesnoski , the new management team of
The Fairmont, an
independent retirement living facility located in Manassas,
cordially invite Chamber members and their families to
stop by The Fairmont to tour this gracious style of
retirement living. The Fairmont has a multi-purpose room
available, free of charge, for community organizations to
meet. If there are any questions or you wish to schedule an

SCHOOL SUPPLIES FOR KIDS
American Red Cross
Youth Task Force and
Office Depot are working together on the "Supplies for
Scholars" project to collect school supplies for needy
children. Needed supplies include pencils, wedge erasers,
pencil sharpeners, pens, crayons, Kleenex, writing pads,
6-inch rulers, and loose-leaf paper. To donate, drop off
supplies to Office Depot on Sudley Road by
August 21st.
Monetary donations marked as "Supplies for Scholars"
may be sent to the
American Red Cross Prince William
Chapter at 9317 West, Street, Manassas, VA 20110.
The Prince William Association of REALTORS�
will hold its annual "Back to School" Assistance program
for local school children. The Community Services
Committee will host a shopping trip on August 24th for
approximately a dozen local school children to get such
necessities as book bags, notebooks, pens and pencils.
Anyone interested in donating or assisting in the project

BLOOD DRIVE
GIVE LIFE! The next
GOLF CLASSIC 2000
"Golf Classic 2000", sponsored by the
PWC Schools
Education
Foundation, is scheduled for the beautiful
Virginia Oaks Golf Club in Gainesville. The tournament
is Captain's Choice with a 9 a.m. shotgun start. The cost
per player of $150 includes golf and cart, meals, player
gifts, awards ceremony and prizes. Tournament Proceeds
will be used to support teacher grants, cultural programs,
student scholarships, professional development, school-to-
work initiatives and other unique educational opportunities.

HAYMARKET DAY
Make a day of it!
Haymarket Day on September
16th, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. will feature a parade at 11 a.m.,
live entertainment, children's events, crafts, commercial,
non-profit and political booths, as well as and lots of
yummy food. This event benefits the Washington Street
Enhancement Project. Rain or shine. For information call

FREEDOM TAKES WING
The Freedom Museum
will host the second annual
Festival of Freedom Fly In from August 11th through the
13th . More than 30 vintage aircraft from WW II, Korea,
The Cold War and the other twentieth century conflicts will
be on display. Aircraft will fly in on Friday afternoon,
August 11th at 3 p.m., and will provide demonstration
flights throughout the weekend. WW II re-enactors will
hold an encampment on the airport grounds. Speakers,
music and a Freedom Museum open house will also be
featured.
"FOR THE KID 'N EWE"
See ewe at the county fair! The fifty-first annual
Prince William County Fair takes place August 11
th
through August 19
th
at the PWC Fairgrounds. Featured
grandstand events include the Rodeo, Demolition Derby
and Katy Benko. Also plan to spend some time on the
Midway, and don't forget to visit the animals at the Show
Barn. Admission is half price on Tuesday. Call (703) 368-

EVENING UNDER THE STARS<
Dance under the stars!
CASA is holding its annual
Evening Under the Stars on September 9th from 8 p.m. until
midnight. Entertainment includes Doc Scantlin Imperial
Palms Orchestra featuring Chou-Chou & the Three
Girlfriends. Taste local cuisine, attend live and silent
auctions, or even win at the 50/50 raffles! Proceeds benefit
Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) for
Neglected and Abused
Children. Pre-sale ticket prices are
$400 per table of ten, $50 for couples, and $35 for
