- Continue to update and change the policies, procedures and bylaws of the Chamber as needed.

GOVERNMENT RELATIONS

Economic Development

- Foster an economic and political climate within which area businesses are able to grow and develop and new businesses are encouraged to locate.
- Continue to work with the Economic Development Department of Prince William County, the Community Development Department of the City of Manassas and the Office of Planning and Zoning of the City of Manassas Park on marketing these jurisdictions as prosperous and business friendly.
- Work jointly with the Manassas Business Council, the Prince William I66 Partnership and the Prince William Regional Chamber of Commerce on economic development, land use and transportation issues.
- Enhance the Transportation Sub-Committee and encourage its active involvement in transportation issues relating to the economic growth of the Greater Prince William area.
- Coordinate the Economic Development Luncheon in January of 2001.
- Remain knowledgeable of and familiar with the comprehensive and strategic plans of Prince William County and the Cities of Manassas and Manassas Park, focusing on economic development and land use issues as they relate to the Chamber's mission and benefit to the membership.
- Establish a rotating schedule for committee and other Chamber members to attend/participate in public meetings of all major jurisdictions within Prince William County, Manassas, Manassas Park and Haymarket.
Legislative

- Prepare, with the Prince William Regional Chamber, a combined legislative package for presentation to our General Assembly delegation.
- Begin the Committee's review of legislative issues during the month of October. Complete the legislative package for each Chamber's Executive Committee and Board of Directors during the month of November.
- Co-sponsor a Legislative Kickoff and a Legislative Wrap-Up with the Prince William Regional Chamber.
- Plan a trip to Richmond during the General Assembly with the Northern Virginia Coalition of Chambers.
- Maintain an integrated communications program involving both print and website access for our membership. Questions will be presented to selected legislators on a quarterly basis concerning issues that are relevant to our membership. Responses from legislators will be published in the IN PRINT publication and posted on the Chamber's website.
- Consider co-sponsoring a candidates' forum for United States Representatives covering Prince William County and the cities of Manassas and Manassas Park.
- Develop a legislative priorities package for the Prince William County Board of Supervisors.
COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT

- Conduct the 12th Annual Cuisine de Commerce.
- Plan the 12th Annual "Community Showcase" at the February Luncheon to showcase our nonprofit members.
- Present the 12th Annual Shelley Krasnow Community Service Award. Explore expanding the number of recipients.
- Conduct the 9th Annual "Not-for-Profit" Summit.
- Invite all member nonprofit representatives to participate in the committee.
- Promote business and nonprofit relationships.
Education
Chair: Joyce Harding - Southern Financial Bank
- Partner and/or sponsor with the FBLA clubs of the local schools.
- Continue to meet alternatively among the local schools to promote committee activities and increase participation.
- Implement and facilitate the Intern and Shadowing Program.
- Compile and publish a list of needs from the schools in the IN PRINT and website.
- Administer the scholarship program identified by the Polar Bear Scramble Golf Tournament.
- Support the Chambers efforts for the annual job fair with our local schools.
- Participate for the fourth year in the Prince William County New Teacher orientations in August.
- Continue to update and promote Speakers Bureau List.

Workforce Development Committee

- Develop WIS plan for Chamber members.

- Promote a "Gold Star" program to identify and recognize outstanding Chamber members and / or their employees.
- Plan speakers for luncheon/breakfast programs with a goal of 100 attendees at each event and introduce new program showcasing art and entertainment.
- Organize the annual Awards Luncheon to be held in May 2001 at new location.
- Request nominations and select award recipients.
Small Office/Home Office Speaker Series

- Plan and organize the second annual Chamber Picnic, to be held at the Mountain View Campground - September 23.
- Promote this event as a "Company" Picnic for Chamber businesses, their employees, guests and families.
