Message from the Chairman of the Board

It is hard to believe the year is almost over. I want to thank you for entrusting the Chamber’s leadership to me. The privilege of working with you will remain one of my fondest memories. I believe our Chamber is among the best in Virginia due to the diligence of every member who has worked this past year to promote our community and our Chamber. Finally, I wish to express my sincere thanks for the professionalism of our president and her staff. It has been a privilege to work with each of them.

I agree with Guy Hinkler of V2 Systems, Inc., recent winner of the Greater Chamber’s “Outstanding Service Award,” who stated that being a member of our Greater Chamber is equivalent to obtaining a PhD in Business. Personally, my membership has provided me and our firm with educational opportunities in the fields of marketing, public relations, legal, human resources, information systems and communications, to name a few.

In addition to the vast number of educational opportunities, my Chamber membership continues to provide my firm with opportunities for networking, advertising and socializing.

The secret to maximizing your Chamber membership is personal involvement. If your goal is to grow your business, become involved with a Chamber committee or take advantage of the Before and After Hours networking functions. If your goal is to ensure the passage of legislation that would be beneficial to your business, become involved with our Legislative Committee. If your goal is to meet new business owners, become involved with the Ambassador Committee or attend the quarterly New Member Showcase. If your goal is to improve our educational system and provide academic and career opportunities for our youth, become involved with the Education Committee.
Proverbs 1:5 states, “A wise man will hear, and will increase learning; and a man of understanding shall attain unto wise counsels.” Our Greater Chamber provides both learning and sound counsel.

With the opening of our new Gainesville/Haymarket office, we offer even more opportunities to serve businesses in our cities and surrounding county. It is my prayer that each of us will take hold of and utilize the many opportunities our Chamber provides.
